Fools and Their Errands
A quick one for April 1st
President George W. Bush was once considered to be the most inept, word-mangling, manipulable leader in US history. It seemed impossible to imagine anyone worse in the White House thereafter.
That was back in the aughts, with the presidency yet to plunge from Earth’s crust (Trump’s first term) to Earth’s core (Trump’s second term), with Joe Biden exploring Earth’s mantle in a mumbling and fumbling interregnum.
To shift metaphorical gear, US presidents from either side of the aisle are replaceable hood ornaments on the petrodollar juggernaut. It’s not called a duopoly for nuthin’ — the venal and hypocritical Democratic party invariably sets the electoral stage for those unashamedly worse in the Republican party. Around and around it goes.
It’s all by gerrymandered design. From the standpoint of the ‘real owners,’ all you need to do to harden your security as multigenerational, insider-trading, Gulfstream-flying, Epstein class grifters is to convince the pitchfork people that the torch people want to take away their pitchforks. While you profitably blow shit up all over the planet.
Fool me twice at the ballot box, shame on…um…you can’t get fooled again!
In any case, the current incoherent Oval Office occupant is a different animal from his predecessors, who held nominal respect for international law (at least among US allies). The war on Iran was sooo last month, the Chief Bibi Enabler insists. Who cares about the Straights of Harmooz? Go get your own oil, Euro-losers. Let’s talk about the White House ballroom instead!
Anyway, today’s post is mercifully short on text, so it’s a music video twofer. Enjoy.

It’s a downward spiral, as Trent Reznor would say, with a barely noticeable blip, . I’m ancient enough to remember when all my European cousins were dismayed that the USA had just elected a Hollyweird celebrity for president. (notwithstanding he had been a hated Governor of California -but the golden state tends to do that). That was bad enough. Give power to a fool and you’ll create a tyrant, and all the gangsters will line up behind him to ensure their success.
Well said, in a small package. Who can’t recall how funny was Bush’s quote was? He created his own i suppose. And i had forgot what a good song “Ship of Fools” is. Apropos.
