A toon from 2016, still relevant. Who would figure it would still work during a pandemic?
One of my nonpolitical toons for Common Ground. A comment on how you can never be too gastronomically correct on the West Coast. (Breatharians are those who apparently believe you can survive on nothing more than orange juice and oxygen.)
Speaking of swallowing things, I enjoyed incorporating Morpheus from The Matrix into this 2012 toon, also for Common Ground.
Our neighbours took the blue pill a second time in 2012, of course…
…followed by the red pill in 2016. Or should that be orange pill?
Closer to home, I wasn’t much of a fan of the Harper regime. I incorporated the Conservative Party logo into this 2015 toon about the sales of Canadian military jets to other authoritarian governments.
Not sure how many readers got the visual connection to the party logo. Perhaps some my cartoons should come with a toll-free number. (“Confused? Call now!”) In any case, after Harper’s defeat in 2016 the Conservatives went on a rebranding bender with a revised logo, going from this:
To this:
Perhaps they found some minor inspiration in my 2015 reworking below. Think I was on to something with the Pac-Man meme!
Finally, a comment from 2016 on the sorry state of the newspaper industry, focusing on the decline in both content and form. And like the toon at the top, it still works!
...which kind of proves that old axiom, the more things change, the more they stay the same!
