Above are some 2SLGBTQIA+ genders and their associated flags found online. In case you’re wondering, the second set represents xenogender identities, “which is an umbrella term for non-binary gender identities that cannot be fully described through their relation to concepts typically used to describe gender such as male, female, woman, man, masculinity, femininity, androgyny, neutrality, agenrinity, or outherinity.”
I’m so behind with this stuff. I don’t even know what “outherinity” is.
In any case, it struck me that I have no flag of my own to express my xenogender identity. I can imagine someone objecting that as an older white CIS male, I’m part of the oppressor class and deserve no flag or banner of any kind.
I find this hurtful and triggering, even if the rejection is something I imagined just now in my head.
So if I’m going to fly my freak flag, I guess I’m just going to have to design it myself. Two of them, actually - I’m not sure if that means I’m 2-spirited or just two-faced, but here they are:
“As an artist I sometimes feel like I am just an extension of my pencil. My colours are Pink Pearl pink and Staedtler Standard Yellow #132. I am Pencilgender.”
“As a cartoonist, I often feel like the world’s too crazy even for me. I’d like to go back in time and erase the past three years of government health policy tyranny. My colours are the classic red and blue of the Läufer Double Universal 0440 Rubber Eraser. I am Erasergender as well as Pencilgender.”
There you go. Let me know what you think in the comments, and if you’d like me to design a flag for your newly hatched gender identity. My rates are good!
If you take four of those 'Straight Ally' flags and put them at angles together, they form a swastika.
Funny, I’ve had the opposite experience, at least during and months after the Freedom Convoy. The Canadian flag took on perilous, radical associations for the normies, and I liked that. Drove around with Canadian flags on my car during the FC anniversary.
