Bureaucratic malfeasance, secrecy, a contentious subject; why, this is a perfect Conspiracy Theory!
They can't possibly be ill intentioned, can they? They want to 'save' Stanley Park, after all. So it's all good and we can go back to watching TikTok or whatever...
When I did conservation work in the U.K. I remember such Eco-systems being termed as Climax Communities, and at a site that I studied there was a government designation given to one of them of a "Site of Special Scientific Interest." What I studied was a site that was nonetheless bulldozed over to make way for a highway; a site in Buchan Country park near Crawley in the South of England. Donald Trump did a similar thing to a "SSSI" site on a golf course in Scotland that he "beautified" because, well, money always speaks, doesn't it. It's encouraging that so many experts are raising merry heck about this one.
This is such an important story that needs to be heard. It is also a tragedy that our “jewel” is secretly being decimated without the proper assessments being considered. What media outlets are reporting on this? As far as I can tell, none. This should be front page news.
