ON MONDAY, January 4, a UK court is to rule on WikiLeaks founder Assange’s US extradition. To mark this, here’s a piece that was published in Common Ground in December of last year. A stiff sentence: redacting Julian Assange from the record I was recently commissioned to write an article on arts and technology for a Canadian literary journal. It ballooned into a 5,000 word piece that ranged from the problems of social media platforms to the perils of artificial intelligence.
Amazing that so many so called journalists are so susceptible to peer pressure and what they figure is 'the general consensus' that they can't see a smear campaign for what it is. Then they participate in it! State sanctioned and media complicit lynching and bullying of a heroic figure.
Byron sounds like a real piece of work -- a woke, 'progressive' imbecile who is all about appearance without substance.
"Assange is not on trial for skateboarding in the Ecuadorian embassy, for tweeting, for calling Hillary Clinton a war hawk, or for having an unkempt beard as he was dragged into detention by British police. Assange faces extradition to the United States because he published incontrovertible proof of war crimes and abuses in Iraq and Afghanistan,"
“In the words of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange , the Internet is the ‘biggest spy machine the world has ever seen.’”
- What's the matter with that ? Certainly if not true it's at least 85 % true. Julian Assange is only telling the truth. In other words he's just laying out a fact. I'm ashamed of Common Ground ( Canadian magazine ) for not publishing Jeff Olson's quote from Assange.
Have to correct you there, this WAS published in common ground magazine! See above.

I can see how this could get read that way, my wording was ambiguous in the intro, I have made it more clear.
Here is the truth about today's extradition decision :
