Comment:
I made these memes prior to the last US presidential election, mocking the GOP-Democrat duopoly - but I didn’t know what to do with them. Comparing Trump to Hitler seemed cheap and hyperbolic, though given a second term who knows how hard Orange Thing would have worked the fascist wa-wa pedal. Of course there was even less reason at the time to compare Democratic contender Joe Biden to Nazi SS chief Heinrich Himmler. That would have been both cheap and histrionic.
But hey, exaggeration is what cartoonists do.
In any case, given Biden’s airstrikes last week on Iraq and Syria - something Trump flopped a bit on - it seems now’s the time to highlight the bipartisan consensus on blowing foreign places to shit.
But hey, obliteration is what empires do, from Carthage to Somalia (Trump was all good with drone strikes on the latter).
And no matter what further offenses Creepy Joe may commit over his reign, you can be sure that Donkey Cult members will rise up to magically excuse him with that all-purpose, handy-dandy incantation: “At least he’s not Trump!”
Over the intercom....crackle, hiss.... "Mr. Olson, Wanted in canned goods, aisle number 8. PJ has restocked himself."
Trump is no Hitler, though equally deluded. He's just not bright enough. Obama killed more people in drone strikes than did Bush 2.0. Duopoly indeed.
The pre-Nazi Weimar republic was a weak democracy full of pissed off ex soldiers who believed they'd been sold out by the armistice of WW1. The USA, however, has never even been a democracy. The slaveholding founders made sure of that in their carefully framed constitution. Rhode Island has the same number of senators as California: 2. If the system were based democratically on population, California would have 36.
